In the first part, I introduced you to the basics of learning the German language quickly. However, the list doesn’t stop there, because I still have four important points for you on how to learn German easily that has me, and can help you progress faster, and that is often quite neglected or not sufficiently taken into consideration. Let’s go!
1. DON’T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT YOUR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS.
Grammar should be considered as a complement! One thing that should be clear to you is that even if you learn a lot of grammar, you will still make mistakes from time to time. Just as you sometimes make mistakes in English. It is therefore quite normal to make a few grammatical mistakes when learning a new language.
Besides, the more you practice, the better you will become and of course feel the need to do better.
2. LISTEN TO MUSIC AND PODCASTS / WATCH MOVIES IN GERMAN WITH OR WITHOUT SUBTITLES
Listening to music will enable you to become familiar with the language anywhere and anytime. I am willing to bet that there is no German music in your playlist. Am I wrong?! Maybe you’re having trouble finding German music that makes you want to break the Replay button. There’s obviously some you could enjoy. There are some that I personally thought were pretty good. We can talk about them in a future article.
Concerning podcasts, you have different topics and very specific vocabularies. So you can familiarize yourself with the vocabulary of a particular subject.
Movies also help a lot. Especially if you already have the basics and want to improve quickly. You’ll find common and familiar expressions that you may not find so fast in books. And so all, without leaving your couch. But ! In the beginning, you will feel like you are completely lost. Just have a little patience. Little by little, you’ll understand.
For people who have no idea what they can watch, our teacher suggested a show called Türkisch für Anfänger. And as movies (Comedy), I find Fack Ju Göhte, Fack ju Göhte 2 and Fack Ju Göhte 3 not so bad and funny. Otherwise, you can also enjoy your usual selection and genre with or without subtitles. If you have any suggestions, put them in the comments ; )
3. STOP CRITICIZING THE LANGUAGE OR THE COUNTRY.
Criticism when learning a new language has negative effects. I even think it’s psychological. The more you criticize, the less chance you have of learning quickly and therefore achieve your goal. Most people try to convince themselves that all this effort is not worthwhile because they don’t want to take responsibility. I say this because I have also been very critical of everything around me since I have been living here and that is not beneficial. So relax! Arm yourself with confidence and a dose of enthusiasm to learn.
4. DON’T STRESSING YOURSELF.
Give yourself time to understand correctly and speak fluently. Stress is accompanied by doubts that affect your mood and, consequently, your motivation.
Bad mood also creates the desire to isolate yourself, don’t create a fortress around yourself!
So follow all these steps here in Zen mode. You will sometimes feel like you know nothing, but remember that this is only an impression. I’ve never been one to put pressure on myself. That didn’t stop me from getting out and writing this article today about how to learn german easily. So enjoy it!
